On July 2, 1952, Princess Beatrix opened Madurodam. From day one, it has been more than just a theme park showcasing the best of the Netherlands: it was founded as a living tribute to war hero George Maduro and as a fundraiser for charitable causes. Through miniatures, hands-on activities, and indoor attractions, visitors discover Dutch heroes and highlights.
Madurodam is not just a family park; it is also a war memorial. It is a living reminder of the courage of a man who gave his life for his country and his fellow human beings. George Maduro, the war hero after whom our park is named, reminds us every day of the power of courage and sacrifice. It may be the happiest war memorial in the world, but it is certainly a monument full of meaning.
